Go From Here
04:18
|
|||
as the sun goes down, past the far horizon,
let us stay and mourn the passing of the greater light
but as we wait, the dusk is rising -
breathe the soil, the sounds, the moon is climbing through the trees
Chorus
i don’t know where i go from here,
there’s a feeling in me it’s not very clear
life is changing like the light is fading fast
but I know that you are here, and you’re very near
as the colors change, the greenest grass is golden
and edges soften, deepening to gray and blue
then the light waves its final fingers - sip the twilight, smell the sweet breeze rustle through the leaves
now the sun is gone and all that’s left is silver, another day has left us in the soft moonlight
it seems we all have our path to travel - watch the captain sail the moon-ship through the starry seas
if i must go through this life
i just want to know – will you stay by me
will you stay by me, even though…

Play Switch
05:04
|
|||
when i was a little child my momma rocked me in her arms
at five i’d been from old new york way down to mexico
we never stopped in one place twice, i’d been around the world three times
when i was sixteen i was still the new kid
growing up it sure was hard, life didn’t match the fairytales
moving back and forth made me confused, worn out and tired
but there was still a place to go, we packed our bags and headed home
to where my parents grew up, where their lives had begun
Chorus
play switch me up and spin me around
this spinning leaves me upside down
this place which i've been living in i cannot call my home
i’m reaching up to touch the sun
i’m on the road that i’ve begun
play switch me up and spin me around
then one day i was on my own, i didn’t know where to call home
i’m in between the worlds of here and there, of now and then
so i made do with what’s around and questioned everything i found
i wonder if there really is a place that’s truly home
i can’t remember all that was, sometimes i felt like giving up
living like that left some scars i’m sure
but i would not trade all those days for something that did not take place
it is the road i’ve traveled, i thank God for who i am
i’m glad that life’s not up to me, cause if it were i’d probably be
someone who hasn’t known the downs and outs, the crap of life
but as it is i search for home and find that i am not alone
there’s others trying to make sense of life’s inequities
there are glimmers of the master weaver’s plan
when i think of all the things that i’ve been through
and as i observe the ways of mice and men
there is hope in our tapestry’s creation
i’m going out beyond the shores
to join in the exultant sound
i’m going up a-yonder
to be with my lord

Chasing Shadows
04:37
|
|||
chasing shadows in my head,
maybe things best left unsaid
we sit here with the silence between us
can it be cut by a knife -
how do we divide this pie, draw these lines
why don’t you tell me what you want from me,
are you my friend or my enemy
why don’t you tell me what you want from me
Chorus
every mess i make of my life,
The Potter turns it into something beautiful
every mess i make of my life,
The Potter turns it into something beautiful
you say all you want is honesty,
but i can read between the lines
what you want is not a man who knows what he wants,
but a man who wants you
why don’t you tell me what you want from me
are you my friend or my enemy
why don’t you tell me what you want from me
every time that i fall down
He picks me up and puts me back together
talkin' 'bout all the king’s horses and all the king’s men
couldn’t put this broken man together again
but He can
chasing shadows in my head
maybe things best left unsaid
we sit here with the silence between us

Living Water
03:32
|
|||
i gave you my heart, i gave you my soul
and if you should break them, where will they go
what profits a man to gain the world and lose his very soul?
Chorus
i’m gonna give it up to the one who can heal every sorrow
and gives living water that no one can steal
i’m gonna give it up to the one who can heal every sorrow
and gives living water that no one can steal
and if he should break them, I will not care
this love is amazing, this love is for real
don’t let me down now sister
if you let me fall don’t worry
i’m layin’ it all down, giving it up to
the father, the maker of all
i’m gonna give it up
to the one who can heal every sorrow
and gives living water
that no one can steal
give me some of that living water
i’m laying it all down, giving it all up to the one who can heal every sorrow

Voices
04:00
|
|||
if you should hang your hopes upon the stars
be careful lest they fall
‘cause this old world is full of ancient scars
even you can’t find them all
Chorus
i’ve got voices crawling ‘round my head
i’ve got skeletons lying in my bed, under the sheets
they won’t leave me
if you should build yourself a castle, don’t build it on the sand
‘cause this old ocean tends to rock the boat, before it runs into the land
now that you know, where can i go? where can i run to?
all that this lonely man wants is to see a smile light up your face
and know that you’ll stay awhile
you say there’s beauty in this madness, something i can’t really see
and all that i can know of gladness, is if you say you’ll still smile at me

One Girl For Me
03:08
|
|||
there is one girl for me, and i know it will be you my love
there is one girl for me, you must have been sent here my love
‘cause when we kiss i feel the bliss of heaven from above
there is one girl for me, and i know it will be you my love
there is one girl for me, and i know it will be you my love
there is one girl for me, you must have been sent here my love
i know for some it’s hit or miss, but we fit like hand in glove
there is one girl for me, and i know it will be you my love
when i’m playing to a crowd, i wish that i could see you around
because i miss your face, miss your embrace
so much that i could say out loud…

Breathe Deep
04:52
|
|||
it's hard to wake up when the sun has yet to peek above the trees
but harder still when all the world outside is cloaked in snowy freeze
i see the worry in your eyes, it touches me like winter's chill
so i'll turn up the thermostat - let's forget about the bill
Chorus
cast away your worrries and
breathe deep - we've got good times 'round the corner
breathe deep - the long winter's nearly over
just put on those dancing shoes, dance away those rhythmless blues
after all we've got nothing to lose - breathe deep
it's just so cold outside i wish that i could stay right here in bed
let snow do what it will but don't you let things pile up in your head
i see a robin on the window, maybe that's a sign
that better days are here to stay not here today and gone again
i have to get up every morning just to make sure i'm alive
then go to work and pay the bills - it's what you do just to survive
but i know with you by my side we could reach to outer space
so look around, the world is here and what's more spring is coming
so let's get up we'll take the milky way and float above the floor
breathe the stardust let our feet tap out a dance right through the door
there is a way that takes us through - it's the only way that's true
if you go then i will go too - it's joy, joy, joy!

Eternity
04:29
|
|||
walk me down to the shoreline, where the long grass blows
hold my hand in the moonlight, watch the blue foam crash
sit with me in the cool sand, think about our destiny - You and Me
let it come from deep within – this groan that shakes my soul with longing
there is so much beauty in life, but too much pain for one to hold
maybe two can make the best of things
i cannot see the farthest shore, just that it’s a long, long road to hoe
we have yet to reap the harvest
will you dance with me along the starlit shadowed waves
will you dance with me along the way to heaven
let it come from deep within – this song that shakes my soul with longing
stand with me at ocean’s edge, ready now to take the plunge
only one can know the outcome
ask the one who put forever in the hearts of all humanity
put it there that we might follow
will you dance with me along the starlit shadowed waves
will you dance with me along the way to heaven
let us welcome the sun as the light grows in the east
dance with me at low tide – eternity is calling
may the one who is forever hold us safely in his arms
eternity is calling, and will welcome us home
let it come from deep within – this love that shakes my soul with longing

I Am Not a Thief
04:39
|
|||
i am not a thief, i am not a murderer, but what if i was
maybe i’d see justice, maybe i would pay for all the evil things i’ve done
but the thief and the murderer, they cry “Oh Lord hear our plea!”
they find refuge not through justice, but through mercy.
i am not a blind man, i am not diseased, but maybe i should be
maybe then i’d feel pain, maybe they would see that i’m not what i seem
but the blind man and the leper, they cry “Oh Lord we believe!”
they find healing not through deception, but through certainty.
never walked a bloody mile or carried the world’s burdens, but I know someone who did
just a lowly preacher born like you and me and this is what he said:
“no greater love has anyone than that they give their life for a friend”
but when I was still his enemy, Jesus died for me.
i'm a thief, i’m a murderer, i’m a blind man, i’m diseased
for i took the Son of Righteousness and i nailed him to the tree
yes i take the Son of Righteousness and i nail him to a tree
i am a thief, i’m a murderer, but i say death where is your sting?
for i know that in the Risen Son i am truly free
i’m a blind man, i’m a leper, but i say “Lord I believe!”
and i know that in the Risen Son i am truly free

Steer Into the Curve
04:32
|
|||
i wear these roads like a second skin, just like this car i’m driving in
i wanna breathe deep so that the wind can cool the burning
my oil is dark like blackest gold, the gearshift stuck and the engine cold
i need some light that will help me look past the next turning
Chorus
this point is the farthest i have ever been from home
i hear a voice that says to me ‘steer into the curve’
i watch the lines move on up ahead, these horses go where they are led
i wanna drive fast so that the stoplights turn red behind me
my wheels are worn like a pair of shoes, the timing’s off and the tailpipe’s loose
i need some power to help me through where darkness hides me
the valley’s shadow is coming close, the depths are promising repose
from pain which only seems to grow the more i’m living
this engine’s stalled and the battery’s done, coasting down this hill i’m on
i need a spark that’ll help me start the engine spinning
when i was a child i held on to mother’s hand
now that i’m grown i still don’t understand
is this the farthest i have ever been from home?
i hear a voice that says to me ‘steer into the curve’
i’m putting on a different skin, just like this car i’m riding in
i’m gonna breathe deep so that the wind can keep me burning
my oil’s refining to brightest gold, i hear the engine becoming bold
i’ll follow the light as it leads me into the next turning
this point is the closest i have ever been to home
i hear a voice that says to me ‘steer into the curve’

Will I Ever
05:05
|
|||
will i ever know the touch of your hand on my face
will i ever see the lines of your shape in the dawn light
- cool breeze through my window
will my eyes ever blow butterfly kisses on your skin
will i ever, will i ever see you again
and i know, yes i know that everything changes
and sometimes all that you can do is try
but how long, ‘til you and i are one
how long must i wait to have someone by my side
there is a way that leads to despair
but i know that my way does not lead there
for there is a way that leads to life
and in that way there is time for my desire

I'm On a Journey
04:48
|
|||
i'm on a journey to reach the great waters, where i've never been
i don't know the roads, but i know the direction i'm traveling in
i want to watch the mighty waves crashing before i die
to know just how great, how big is the ocean and how small am i
this burden is light, i journey along on my own two feet
with only enough, just a meal to share with whomever i meet
my home is behind but i know i will reach there at my journey's end
i'm in the unknown but i know i am never without a true friend
i know i must go through those far blue mountains and what's in between
and when the night falls i'll walk by the starlight and by the moonbeams
though valleys may come and shadows may fall across my way
i'll reach to the heavens and lift up my voice in praise come what may
will you come with me to lose your life going where you've never been
are you one who's willing to gain your life seeking what you've never seen
this is the journey, this is the purpose - the great rolling sea
to know just how great, how big is the ocean and how small are we.
this is the journey, this is the purpose - the great rolling sea
to know just how great, how big is the ocean and how small are we.
i'm on a journey to reach the great waters, where i've never been
i don't know the roads, but i know the direction i'm traveling in
